Cookies

In short: this site does not track you. Below is what actually happens when you open it.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser. The next time you visit, the site can read it back and recognise you. Cookies are useful for remembering a login or a setting, but they are also what makes browsing easy to track.

Which cookies this site uses

None. This website saves no cookies in your browser at all, neither its own nor any belonging to a third party. There have never been analytics, tracking, or marketing cookies here, and there are none now.

The site is static: every page is prepared in advance as a plain document. There is no analytics, no advertising network, and no social media button.

What is stored in your browser

Nothing. The site writes no data to browser storage (localStorage or similar) — no settings and no choices made on the map. Once you close the page, nothing related to this site remains in your browser.

If you want to keep track of installations you have visited or liked, the festival app does that — the marks are stored on your phone.

That is also why you see no consent banner: there are no cookies and no tracking to ask you about.

How the language is remembered

We do not store your language choice anywhere. The Lithuanian and English versions are simply separate addresses, for example /kontaktai/ and /contacts/. The address itself carries the language, so no cookie is needed.

External services

Google Fonts

The typefaces on this site are loaded from the Google Fonts servers. To download them your browser contacts Google directly, and that request reveals your IP address and browser type to Google. Google is a company based in the United States, so these technical details may be processed outside the European Union.

To be clear: this is not a cookie. Google Fonts saves nothing in your browser and does not recognise you on other sites this way. But the request does disclose your IP address to Google, and we think you should know about it.

Supabase Storage

Photographs of installations and news items are served from Supabase Storage, a file store running on servers in the European Union. As with any image, that server sees your IP address. It sets no cookies.

How to manage and delete cookies

This site uses no cookies, but other sites will. Every modern browser lets you manage them — look for the section covering privacy or site data. You can normally:

  • see which cookies are already stored and delete them individually or all at once;
  • block third-party cookies;
  • block cookies from particular sites;
  • clear all cookies when you close the browser;
  • browse in a private or incognito window, which discards the data when you finish.

Deleting cookies also clears the settings saved in them, and some sites may work less well afterwards. It makes no difference here — this site behaves identically with or without them.

If you would rather avoid the request to Google Fonts as well, browser extensions can block it, though the typefaces will then fall back to your defaults. All the content remains fully available.

If anything changes

If we ever start using analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will update this page and ask for your consent first. You would be able to withdraw that consent at any time and change your settings on this page.

If you have questions, write to lightfestival@vilniuskc.lt. How we handle personal data is described in our privacy policy.
